Welcome to Leopard Class - Year 6

Mrs Brown and Mrs Allen

Welcome to Leopard Class, the children have returned to school and settled quickly into their new class and are working hard – an excellent beginning to Year 6.

Our topic for the Autumn term is Victorians and we are researching what life was like for children during this era. We will study Queen Victoria and her family producing a PowerPoint that we will be presenting to each other over the next few months. We will be visiting the SS Great Britain and learn about the inventions of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. For art we will look at and re-create the work of William Morris and design Victorian portraits in silhouette.

The spring term is a busy term in Year 6 as we prepare for our SATs, but we will have lots of fun along the way. We will also be studying democracy and the running of Parliament. Plus, we are hopefully going to London for an overnight stay. During our visit we will tour Parliament, take a ride on the London Eye, a trip on the River Thames and spend time at the Natural History Museum.

SATs will take place from Monday 9th May – Thursday 12th May 2022

During the summer term the children will begin preparing for transition to secondary school. Our topic will be WWII, specifically The Battle of Britain.

We will also prepare and perform the traditional Year 6 play.
