Welcome to Leopard Class - Year 6
Mrs Brown and Mrs Allen
Welcome to Leopard Class, the children have returned to school and settled quickly into their new class and are working hard – an excellent beginning to Year 6.
Our topic for the Autumn term is Victorians and we are researching what life was like for children during this era. We will study Queen Victoria and her family producing a PowerPoint that we will be presenting to each other over the next few months. We will be visiting the SS Great Britain – virtually this year and learn about the inventions of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. For art we will look at and re-create the work of William Morris and design Victorian portraits in silhouette.
The spring term is a busy term in Year 6 as we prepare for our SATs but we will have lots of fun along the way. In geography we will look at our local area and compare it to London. We will also be studying democracy and the running of Parliament. In music, we will learn to play the glockenspiel. This involves composing and performing our own pieces of music.
During the summer term the children will begin preparing for transition to secondary school. We will be studying a play written by William Shakespeare and the highlight of the year will be the Year 6 performance.
